About Us

The Lambda Chi Alpha Alumni Association of Tampa Bay was founded in 1986 with the primary purposes to promote and further the welfare and interest of current and former students at the University of South Florida and graduates of other colleges who are members in good standing of Lambda Chi Alpha National Fraternity and live within the Tampa Bay area.

The History of the University of South Florida (USF)

  • The University of South Florida was established in Tampa, FL on 1956.
  • USF has over 190,000 graduates.
  • 46,500 students are in 235 undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • USF is ranked 41st in the nation for research expenditures among all universities, public or private.
  • The average high school GPA of the incoming students was 4.05.
  • For the 2017 enrolled freshmen, the average SAT score was 1113 and the ACT average was 28.

The History of Lambda Chi Alpha at USF

  • Brothers from USF take deep pride in the close affiliation between the fraternity and the university
  • Brother John Allen, Colgate '34, becomes the first President of USF
  • During Brother Allen's term as president:
    1. School colors become Green and Gold
    2. Center of Campus is named Crescent Hill
    3. Lamp of knowledge is made symbol of school's crest
  • Brother Murphy Osborne, High Point, assistant professor at USF becomes advisor
  • Brother George Spasyk, LCA Service Secretary, establishes LCA at USF
  • 1967 Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity becomes first Greek organization on campus
  • 2006 Operations suspended at USF due to risk management

The History of Lambda Chi Alpha at University of Tampa

The Chapter was colonized on 10/05/2015 with an Associate Membership Ceremony held on campus.
